Frequently asked questions
How much does Competent cost?
It depends. We tailor our pricing to where Competent creates the most value for your organization, so you don’t end up paying for things you don’t use.
What does that mean in practice? For an organization with a relatively stable number of employees – and therefore Competent users – per-user licensing often makes the most sense. If your training activity is concentrated in certain months or fluctuates significantly, for example because of seasonality, pricing based on active users may work better. And for training providers selling courses, pricing per course sold can be the most suitable option.
Who is Competent for?
Companies both large and small.
Larger organizations benefit from extensive customization, automation that can save significant time and cost, and dedicated support throughout their use of the LMS.
Smaller companies can get up and running quickly with Competent Lite, benefit from fast communication with our team and easily create, upload and distribute their own content.
How do we add e‑learning content to Competent?
You can create content directly in Competent using the built-in authoring tool. You can also upload existing learning materials such as PDFs, presentations and videos, as well as SCORM 1.2 e‑learning courses.
And if you need help with the content itself, we can take care of that too. We can provide consulting or bring in our experienced e‑learning team to create custom content focused on real learning challenges and real workplace situations.
What’s the difference between Competent Lite and the full version?
Competent Lite includes all the core features, predefined roles and ready-to-use notifications. With less customization required, it can be deployed very quickly.
The full version can be extended to match your specific requirements. It can also include an optional learning catalog, automated access assignment based on user groups, instructor-led learning activities, a learner portal and a feedback module.
The right version for you depends less on the size of your company and more on your specific learning needs.
How secure is Competent?
Competent follows standard security practices. All server connections use encrypted HTTPS, and data is stored in a backed-up database hosted by a trusted global provider.
User passwords are encrypted and inaccessible to administrators. Granular permissions ensure that users can only access the data they are authorized to see.
Is Competent mobile-friendly?
The learner interface is fully responsive, giving users access to learning content from any device – whenever and wherever they need it.
For the content itself, you can either use responsive external materials or create responsive content directly in Competent’s built-in authoring tool.
Can Competent integrate with other systems?
Yes. Competent can connect to almost any system through its universal API.
For example, our clients use integrations to automatically synchronize users from their HR systems, including group membership data that determines which learning paths are assigned to them.
We can build these integrations for you, or your internal IT team can handle them.
